Field Notes

Description:

Cowbirds
Male's body is dark to black with a dark brown head. And the females are overall brown. Both having a conical bill. Females are brood parasite, meaning they lay eggs in nests of other bird species to be raised by the host bird. Sometimes the eggs or chicks of the host bird would be pushed out of the nest to make more room. <br>

Habitat:

Unpredictable in their locations and habitats. They tend to move around and not staying anywhere for long.
Seen them in wooded areas, marshes, beaches, fields and urban areas. These I spotted near a marsh.

Saw a video recently that they do do that but I haven't seen them
Would be nice to see them sitting on cows !!
Also this my first time seeing a male and female together. Usually I see females with Brewer's or males in a small flock of other male Cowbirds.
Thanks, I almost dismissed them thinking they were Brewer's til I heard them (trying) to sing.
