Field Notes

Description:

A species of vervain or Verbena- family: Verbenaceae. Small indigo flowers on a long flower stalk or peduncle. Flowers about 0.25-0.5 inches in diameter. Leaves are cerrated on the edges and roughly almond shaped. Wildflowers rapidly reproduce and form stands of individual plants that make the plant look like a bush. Other species I have seen that looks similar (for comparison) is: Verbena hastata or Blue Vervain.,

Habitat:

Yard/Garden species. This specimen was growing in the neighbor's yard, next to my family's fence.
