Field Notes

Description:

Mostly pale, tan-and-gray birds with a contrasting face pattern. The crown is finely streaked, with a pale stripe over the eye and darker cheek. While in the field while chasing a bird with a buzzy sound, I thought it was grasshopper sparrow. When I got home and looked at the picture, I got a pleasant surprise realizing it was a clay-colored, which is a lifer. Though a little disappointted, since I still need a Grasshopper sparrow picture.

Habitat:

Shrubby area at the edge of an agricultural field.
