Field Notes

Description:

Found after heavy rains in the Ouachita National Forest, these were growing on an unidentified pile of trees that had formed a natural dam in a stream.

Habitat:

On fallen old trees forming a dam between a stream and a clear water pond. Many standard Arkansas trees were present nearby, such as elms, hickories, oaks, and loblolly pines. This was in the Ouachita National Forest. Dammed trees were stilled soaking wet from several prior days of rainfall.
