Description:

Small fat caterpillar.

Habitat:

Acherontia atropos occurs throughout the Middle East and the Mediterranean region and much of Africa down to the southern tip.

Notes:

It has the ability to emit a loud squeak if irritated. It's sound is produced by expelling air from its proboscis.
