Mottled Duck

This is the Mottled Duck. Although it is similar to other female ducks (especially the Mallard) there a some distinguishable field markings that help with identification. There is a black marking near the base of their yellow beak, on there wing the bar is black, blue, black. They look similar to American Black Ducks, but have crisper markings. More common in the central and south part of Florida (ABDU more common in north Florida). Has been known to hybridized with the Mallards. Part of the Anatidae family and the Anseriformes order.
