Field Notes

Description:

This bird is 12 cm and weighs 7 kg. Its upper side is gray and the underside is white (gray-blue in the South of Brazil). The male has a black mask on his head.

Habitat:

Can be found in the South, Southeast and Midwest regions of Brazil in open fields, savanna and in urban areas. Holds the tail in constant motion, both vertically and horizontally. If excited opens its tail exposing the contrasting white and black coloring.
