Field Notes

Description:

-It’s leaves are pointy on the tip and green and smooth on the upper side and a pale green and bumpy on the bottom. The vein in the middle of the leaf separates the two uneven sides. In the fall it turns a yellowish color.
-Its branches were smooth without many bumps.
-this is native to Eastern North America.
-it grows quickly reaching a height of 80 to 100 ft
-Its root system is shallow
-The bark is dark grayish brown with diamond shaped crevices.
