Field Notes

Description:

Egrets, especially the cattle egret are known to follow large mammals because their movements flush insects and make it easy for the egrets to catch a meal. I saw a tractor being substituted for the large mammal.

Habitat:

We were driving down the highway in Sri Lanka and there were fields on either side. It was extraordinary to see the egrets follow the tractor so closely...and not one bird got hurt.

This is how behaviour changes! Hope the video works.
