Field Notes

Description:

Large brown-orange fly, with large eyes occupying almost the entire head. For its overall appearance, I tentatively ID-ed it as Tabanus sp.; but to be completely honest have no idea...

Habitat:

Found in (protected) marshes in Morbihan bay of Brittany, observed inside the birdwatching shelter, on a plexiglas covers on observatory openings. The saline marshes of Sene are a gorgeous place, highly protected and a paradise for various waders.
