Field Notes

Notes:

This morning while I was watching my bird feeders, a gray flash flew by and landed in a nearby tree, empty handed. The hawk made a pass at the birds, but they were quicker than him this time.

Thanks ian and Mona.
Lovely.. Beautiful photographs. Very nice series.
yep, too true. I had one get a Pine Siskin last week. I think the Siskins are hanging around a little longer because of my feeders. So over the weekend I took a couple down....didn't solve the problem. If I take them all down, the rest of my feathered friends lose out.
Thanks Glen. I've only witnessed one capture, a morning dove that didn't take off when all the other birds did. But I have seen a few piles of feathers in the yard too. I hate to see the birds die, but if the cooper's didn't get any, then it would die, that's nature.
Nice capture! I'm going through the same thing here with a Coopers hawk. The yard sure gets quiet fast when they fly in.
