Description:

The Jersey tiger moth, a.k.a. Spanish flag, is medium sized moth, about 6cm in wingspan. It is notable for its vivid black and white striped wings, which resemble a tiger's pattern, hence the name. The forewings are black with cream-colored or white stripes, while the hindwings are bright orange or red with black spots - an explosion of colours when it finaly moved.

Habitat:

Found in woodlands, interspersed with agricultural fields and pastures, surrounding a small river, Suran, in eastern France (l'Ain, Rhone-Alpes).
