Description:

Same general appearance as a female Mallard, which are common in this area, but have never seen one with a white throat. No other ducks were in sight.

Rural SW Pennsylvania

There are "Domestic Whites" (Anas peking) in the area so it makes sense to me that the two would mate. Thanks.
Mallard and domestic Mallards hybridize all the time. I suspect a Duclair or Swedish (domestic breeds) as one of this lady's parents.
Yes, a mallard. And it could easily be a hybrid between a "regular" mallard or barnyard mallard and a farm "white" duck (for lack of a better name...). She sure is pretty with that white throat, isn't she? It would be interesting to see if she has babies... many times hybrids are sterile. Anyone know if a mallard x domestic can breed?
