Field Notes

Description:

Small- body as big as my pinkie fingernail, with 8 legs (it's an arachnid)- but walks on rear 6. First pair is very long and thin- whip-like) which it uses to feel its way around. Has pincers like a scorpion, but they are not as fearsome- looking.

Habitat:

Subtropical areas of Florida. This fellow(?) lives at the Ocala Discovery Center. His name is "Gomez"! :)

Notes:

While it is NOT a true spider, it IS an arachnid, so I tagged it for the Spider Survey Mission. :)

Gomez was not taken from the wild. We purchased him from Ken The Bug Guy, and was captive-bred. I will not normally take wild creatures from the wild.

Thank you so much of joining the Scorpions of Florida!
I just created the Florida's Arachnids mission. Feel free to join up and put in any other of your leggy arachnid pics too! :) http://www.projectnoah.org/missions/22872004
I started the Scorpions of Florida mission because my scorpion photo had no mission that it could belong to. Any family of the scorpion is greatly excepted.
Please join this new mission called Scorpions of Florida. http://www.projectnoah.org/missions/22371181
