Field Notes

Description:

I believe some member of class Chilopoda and order Geophilomorpha.

Small centipede, perhaps 7 cm long when stretched out, reddish with a tinge of gray. We found a clump of about four of them behind a flake of bark during a cool day. They often moved in a sort of inchworm-like manner, with the forward end walking and stopping, then the rear end catching up.

Habitat:

Hiding behind flakes of tree bark.
