Description:
Hemipenthes morio is a bee fly (family Bombyliidae). The name of the genus derives from the Greek words: hemi- (ημι-) i.e. "half, semi-" and penthos (πένθος) that means "mourning" alluding to the color of the wings that have a light area located near the apex and a dark area close to costal margin, separated by a zig-zag division.
Habitat:
Woodland (deciduous forest) in mount Chortiatis (Thessaloniki, Greece).
