Field Notes

Description:

Slightly fuzzy leaves. The first one I found looked healthy, but short. The second one I found looked more like a vine and I didn't recognize it as Trichostema at first because it had numerous galls on it from the moth Stagmatophora sexnotella (https://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/2137424570)

Habitat:

Beginning of 7 Mile Loop Trailhead. Many grasses nearby as well as Samolus ebracteatus, Sabatia stellaris, grasses, and some dense shrubs (maybe Yaupon Holly, not sure).

Notes:

I was told this was likely the Brooksville Ridge Trichostema... but I'm not sure that is an "official" species or subspecies yet
