Description:

Easily distinguishable due to the mottling bark of the tree itself which flakes off in irregular pieces. The trees themselves can grow to as large as 131 feet and 6.6 feet in diameter.

Habitat:

Typically found in wetland areas. The specific range extends from Iowa to Ontario and Maine in the north, Nebraska in the west, and south to Texas and Florida.
