Description:

The leaves are light red and light green. They are about 12–18 cm long. The leaves snap evenly when bent.

Habitat:

This species is intolerant of shade, but does well in windy sites. It grows best in well-drained soil. It is found in North America.

Notes:

It is the state tree of Minnesota.
