Description:

Small, pansy-like face. Light purple to white petals with a yellow throat. Never seems to be more than 3-4 inches tall. Early spring flower. Appears to have a single tap-root.

Leaves are not always the best indicator, they can sometimes have differences within a species.
How does that compare with the broad leafed, dark purple variety that I also understand is a violet? Other than the fuzzy yellow throat and darker coloring, I've noticed the blossoms between the two are remarkably similar. But the leaves are totally different... ?
