Description:

Rare, beautiful Western Australian wildflower. They grow in expanding circles and the outermost edge of the succulent plant blooms in vivid pinks and white forming a perfect wreath.

Habitat:

Woodland and scrubland, usually on sand or gravel in areas northeast of Perth to Shark Bay WA. This one was spotted near Pindar WA

They could have used my pic!!! Shanna. I think we were very lucky to get the spotting. We were on our own wandering around looking at other wild flowers.

Nice one! I read an Australian Geographic article recently which was all about the hunt for the wreath flower. The writer and photographer went everywhere and saw all these amazing specimens, but no wreath flower. And then finally, on the last day, they got a tip from a local and got their sighting. The weird thing was, the whole article was angled around it and then they didn't publish a pic of it!! I had to look it up.

Beautiful. I can definitely see the Lechenaulta genus in the flowers.

Thanks Argy. Yes it was apparently a really rare find. Especially seeing as we were not on any guided tour or anything. They are so amazing these plants. Just pop up in the gravel!
