Description:

This is a 3rd year Eagle...head is in the process of turning white

Habitat:

Located on the mud flats in Sarasota Bay near the north Siesta Key bridge.

Fun fact! Bald eagles are of course not actually bald, but get their name from an older meaning of "white headed”. Juvenile eagles are predominately brown, and lack the distinctive snowy-white head and tail feathers until they gain their adult plumage at around four years of age.
