Field Notes

Description:

There were hardly any mushrooms out at Woolly Hollow this early May, but these little guys were abundant and healthy on this fallen tree! They are edible, but the flavor is described as not very distinct. It is suggested to use in a mix with other mushrooms, being more of a texture food. It's best to catch them when the caps are quite young.

Habitat:

Dense mixed deciduous forest near a small lake. Quite warm weather.
