Field Notes

Description:

It is a large dragonfly that has white and brown stripes down the abdomen and thorax. The wings have brown and transparent coloring. This one was sitting on a bamboo stick at around 1:00 pm. The wingspan was about 80 mm. This one was a female.

Habitat:

Semi-urban, Fort Worth, Texas.

Notes:

This species can be found commonly across the United States (except in the higher Rocky Mountains areas) and in southern Ontario and Quebec.
