Field Notes

Description:

The first ladybirds I have seen this year!! this one appeared from under the mass of dead leaves it had probably been sheltering in over winter, it appeared to have come out (as we all do) to appreciate the warmth of the sun and didnt seem to mind me being so close. ladybirds are excellent in gardens as they eat all the aphids that live on your favourite plants so I always appreciate seeing them in masses on my hops.

Habitat:

seen in local woodlands with predominantly Oak and Birch trees.
