Field Notes

Description:

This is an old and slightly decaying specimen of the fungi which is beleived to have been used in folk medicine for complaints such as sore throats and eyes up until the 19th century. It always fascinates me how it grows in such unusual shapes and each one differs greatly in size.

Habitat:

found on an elder tree in woodlands not far from my house.

Notes:

not sent to BMS
