Field Notes

Description:

Covered in gray, bony scutes. Several males were in this canal displaying for a nearby female.

Habitat:

In an irrigation runoff canal in a grassy field. We usually try to catch alligators from this canal, but this time there were too many large males that were being pretty territorial since there was a female there too, so no alligators for us this time.

Still impressive. That size can easily take a few fingers. I only get within 3-4ft to take pics. They let me know when I get too close
I just got a GoPro so may have to try it next time we are in areas with alligators. I stick to the 3-4 ft ones to go after. Have only succeeded once though haha
Cool. You should post video. Would love to see you wrangle a gator.
Sex them and take measurements then release them
