Common Buckeye
Junonia coenia
32.6615, -97.2225
Field Notes
Description:
These are by far one of my favorite North American butterflies of all time. They are a beautiful small butterfly that have very nice bold dark spots. The eye spots can and will deter predators that might view him as a tasty morsel for an afternoon snack. They are a common sight in most areas.
Habitat:
Wooded areas, parks, and places with lots of wildflowers.
