Field Notes

Description:

Metallic bronze moth about 1 cm long. Its position at rest makes it look like a piece of a broken leaf. I had to touch it to even believe it was a moth in the dim light. The underwings have a striped pattern and the tips are left showing to disguise the normal moth shape. Tortricidae?

Habitat:

Came to an ultraviolet light in the garden, San Cristobal de Las Casas, 2,200 meters.
