Field Notes
Description:
Looking like a sunflower seed, this grey weevil was about 8 mm long. It was grey with white stripes on the outer margins of the elytra. Head and thorax also showed white lines running down the sides. The elbowed antennae were delicate and quickly retracted when disturbed.
Habitat:
Attracted by light - wandered in from a suburban garden.
Notes:
A native of America, the larvae of this species cause damage to crops such as peanuts, chickpeas and Lucerne in Queensland.

Not sure what this weevil was doing so far down south !
