Field Notes

Description:

Orange/brown with brighter bands between the abdominal segments, wing flaps yellow and a yellow band running from below the eyes to the base of second pair of legs; white spot between the eyes. This picture is part of a series of sightings in the Ecuadorian Amazon region of grasshoppers, that to my eyes shared some similar features: between 2-2.5cm body length with long back legs, large eyes, and underdeveloped wings; in some animals these were just small flaps or completely absent. I don't think they're nymphs, though. I can't find information on these, apart from a few pictures tagged Eulampiacris as the genus. I hope someone is able to provide more information.

Habitat:

Tropical rainforest in the Ecuadorian Amazon region.
