Field Notes

Description:

The Male (pictured) has a brilliant bright orange/red nape, crown and upper breast. Yellow face, lower breast and vent and a yellow patch on the shoulder. Back, wings and tail are black with a white band at the base of the tail and two small white wing vanes, that show in flight. The eye is white.

Habitat:

Found in gallery forest on the banks of Rio Cuiaba on the outskirts of the city.

Notes:

Although it skulked a bit in the shade when it did get into good light it shone like a beacon!
