Field Notes

Description:

Euphorbia myrsinites (myrtle spurge, also known as creeping spurge or "donkey tail"), is a succulent species of the spurge (family Euphorbiaceae).

Habitat:

Native to southeastern Europe and Asia Minor from Italy east through the Balkans to the Crimea and Turkey. It has been artificially introduced as a decorative garden plant in other areas, especially North America.

Notes:

This was found growing abundantly in a vacant lot on the Provo River in Orem. It is a low lying plant growing in very rocky soil. This is my first upload...hopefully someone can help me ID it?

Thank you so much for pointing me in the right direction! Utah even has a Purge Your Spurge program giving out free native plants in exchange for digging up these poisonous weeds...so interesting.
