Field Notes

Description:

Several of these moths came to my black light over several nights. About 1 cm in length. They have several patches of metallic scales in orange, yellow and blue which glow brightly in the light. The wings are mostly clear. The last segments of the tarsi of the 2nd and third legs are white (best seen in the 5th picture). The last picture has a male and female together. Family Sesiidae? or Clear Wing Tiger Moth?

Habitat:

Came to an ultraviolet light, Finca Argovia, Ruta de Café, Soconusco Area of Chiapas, about 2 hours north of Tapachula.
