Field Notes

Description:

This female was about 8-12 mm long, it built a web with a zig-zag stabilimentum somewhat resembling letters, so commonl called Signature Spider. This mature female was resting at the centre of the orb with her head facing downwards. When disturbed indirectly, it went through the hole (an opening at the centre of the orb) and exited on the other side of the plane of the web.

Habitat:

Marshy land

Notes:

Amazing to know the size difference of male & female and their post mating ritual. I couldn't get the male spider nearby but I tried to click this spider on dark as well as white background to show the signature on web and details of the female spider in this combined shot.
