Field Notes

Description:

H- 15"
L- 3'
T- 14"
Rusty orange above, whitish below, legs reddish above and black below. Narrow muzzle, ears pointed, black. Tail Bushy, white tipped.
Diet- Rodents, rabbits, birds, insects, berries, and fruit.
Has a strong scent.
Vocal- Gives short yaps, long howls.
Native and introduced English stock now intermixed.
Breeding- 1-10 young, Mar.- Apr.

Habitat:

Den- Often woodchuck burrow on a rise, entrance enlarged to 3'.

Brushy and open areas. Mainly nocturnal, year round.
