Field Notes

Description:

A large heron. The head, chest, and wing plumes give it a shaggy appearance. They appear blue-gray from a distance. They have long legs, a thick, daggerlike bill and black stripe over their eye.

Habitat:

A re-check on a group of nests in a city park near a major road. More nests are filled and being repaired. Some have herons sitting.
