Field Notes

Description:

The back color varies greatly, but they usually blend in with the background they are on. They have the characteristic tree frog enlarged toe pads, and the thighs are orange. They are indistinguishable from the Cope's Gray Tree Frog in looks, so this could technically be either of them since they are both in the area.

Habitat:

Found throughout much of the eastern US on vertical structures near water. This guy was found hoping across the road in front of us, and we heard hundreds of others calling and eventually went and found a few calling on some trees. They called while we were looking at them with our lights on, was pretty cool to see :)

Notes:

This was my lifer Gray Tree Frog and I was incredibly excited to find him :)
