Field Notes

Description:

We watched these Little Ravens nesting here over summer and now the nest seems abandoned providing opportunity for a closer look. It was about 300mm diameter and made of some twigs, plastic string, and synthetic 'holofil' padding like we get in sleeping bags or pillows. After looking around I noticed this was directly behind a bedding factory.

Habitat:

4 metres up in eucalyptus in a local parkland

Notes:

Very smart birds. The ones on our property wait for the sheep to be shorn as they prefer wool lined nests. :)
