Field Notes

Description:

The smallest penguin species. They are found in Southern Australia and NZ. While the best known colony is on phillips island, which is limited to camera-less viewing, this lesser known group at St Kilda's beach only has the restriction of no flash, no white light. There are docents with red flashlights although I found that just made pictures red. ONce your eyes get accustomed, they are fairly easy to see.

Habitat:

St Kilda's beach pier, Melbourne
