Field Notes

Description:

The middle back has a black transverse bar and is connected by a long black triangle to the tip like Dysdercus poecilus. But this bug has not a ventral side with black color and white stripes. On the narrow neck it has not a black transverse line together with a white transverse band in the collar. So most of the body look like Dysdercus koenigii because it also has completely red femora.

Habitat:

Abandoned area.

Yes, Arne that right. The paper doesn't deal with the ventral colours. I just thought that any little bit of info can sometimes be useful. Regards, John B.

Thanks John B. The document mentions only lot of variations in the black bar or on the forewings. That is my understanding of it.

Hi Arne, I just got back to the house after a walkabout in the local hills (possibly my last, I'm getting to be too old) and I have a Dysdercus picture I took this morning. I haven't finished sorting my photos yet, but needed a break. So, I looked at what was going on in PN and saw your Dysdercus sp. and your pictures are really nice. I came across a scientific paper, a few minutes ago, about Dysdercus poecilus and it deals with colour variations of this species in the Philippines.
