Gall Midge

Small gray and orange fly with long, gray wings. The head is really just two eyes, antennae and a long proboscis. It was poking the flower bud with its proboscis before falling onto a leaf underneath. These flies cause galls to form by excreting a substance that makes the plants grow rapidly in that immediate area. This is to house the larvae. These are a huge pest to agriculture.
