Field Notes

Habitat:

Subtropical shady hammocks and neighboring open areas in its south Florida range which extends to the Bahamas and Cuba.

Notes:

I've only seen one or two of these at a time at Fairchild Tropical Gardens. There were so many this morning at Oleta Park's butterfly garden. at least 6 flying and feeding all over these Wild Coffee shrubs. (** Note**the ones pictured are not all the same individual.) It's good to see them, though once thought extinct.
