Description:

A profusion of eggs located on the bud of a Maple tree. White with darker middle eggs are clustered in rows. The average female moth will lay 100 to 200 eggs in its brief lifetime.

Habitat:

Eggs on the tips of tree buds.

Agreed. Orgyia leucostigma is a similar species, but the eggs are more foamy-looking. You're welcome :)

Cool spotting! Looks like the eggs were laid by a flightless female moth after emerging from her cocoon and mating. The eggs are laid right on the cocoon. Are you sure of the ID? I don't know much about Datana ranaeceps, but to me, this resembles Orgyia sp.
