Field Notes

Description:

Sometimes can be confused with Black Turnstones. Non-breeding. Stocky shorebird, brown on back and head. The brown on chest leads to white belly and brown spots. Tail is white with dark band at the end. Yellow legs and medium length bill is dark on top and yellow under.

Habitat:

Usually found near rocky shorelines at surf lines.
