Squirrel monkeys are small and highly intelligent; traits that have led them to be captured and kept as pets in both their native regions and around the world. Although nowadays the majority of pet squirrel monkeys are captive bred, their capture for the exotic pet trade in the past has had a damaging effect on wild populations. Sadly their numbers continue to decline, as their habitats are lost to commercial logging and agricultural use. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10152730997135603&set=a.10152575329380603.958289.10150120463815603&type=1 https://twitter.com/projectnoah/status/323158310805188609
Thanks all..Leuba, I think they're pretty safe there unless they sell out to oil interest.
Just lovely Claire !...I like the way they hold on to their tails. I hope they have a secure home.
Beautiful monkey and they are so cute in the video!
