Nesting Mallard

She probably went towards a source of water.Hope that all of them made it! She had a total of 9 eggs out of which 2 were destroyed by? Well their fate is similar to the quail or turkey chicks.Hopefully she will not nest here next year!

Sarah ,I finally got this picture of the ducklings.How old do they look? They walked to the nearby cul-de-sac and since then disappeared.I hope that they survived!

Sarah,here is an update.The mallard hen had a successful nesting site.There were 7 ducklings.My neighbor had set out a pool for them and a ramp for the ducklings to get in.They did swim in it for a day.The next day however she walked he ducklings to the little creek behind.It also has some old pipes in which they could hide and stay if required.We have not seen the family since.The mom was smart and had a strategy.However we wish that we could have followed them for a longer time.

was away for a few days.When came back I saw that the eggs had cracked open .There was no mom or duckling in sight.I am assuming that my neighbor handed them over to the Lindsay wild life.I cannot wait to find out.Will update when I find out.
