Field Notes

Description:

A larger blue manakin 15cm (6"). Male (pictured) has a blue breast, back and rump with black wings and a black head with a bright red crown. Both male and female sport short central tail streamers.

Habitat:

Found in the lower forest level in the Iguassu National Park on the Argentine side of the falls.

Notes:

By far the bluest of all the manakins in South America.
