Description:

Medium sized mantis, tawny brown in coloration.

Habitat:

west central ga

Notes:

Whoa --- at first I thought this must be a Misidentification; however, it turns out European mantids were accidentally introduced in the 1800s! Crazy. I've had a very mandtiful year.

I think this may actually be a native species (with no common name). The shape of the body and the thorax are a bit different than the European mantis. https://bugguide.net/node/view/22947 Male Mantis religiosa can be green as well. :-) https://bugguide.net/node/view/697253
I believe this is a male european mantis. The males are all brown in their mating colors.
