Field Notes

Description:

largest sea turtle,dark grey to black with white spots and large flippers. they are critically endangered.

Habitat:

deep ocean and can dive to 4'000ft.

Notes:

females come up to the shore,laying eggs at night in clutches of 80-120 eggs per nest and will have up to 9 nest per season in different locations.along the beach.pictures were allowed during their trance like stage of egglaying by wardens patrolling the beach day and night,a commendable and ceaseless effort.
